Eight years in the making (sort of), Not Them Productions and Powet.TV are proud to present to you Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Fit the Fifth — The Restaurant at the end of the Universe! If you’ve listened to six amazing podcasts today, why not round it off with an aural trip to Milliways?
Look at the jump for our show notes, and once again a link to the updated version of Infocom’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy game, playable online!

Show notes:
Just as promised, we’re here this week with Fit the Fifth! Up until now, we’ve been including episodes as they were originally completed soon after they were recorded in 2000. Fits 5 and 6 were largely recorded, but never went into post-production. Now we’re happy to share the first of the final two episodes in this project.
Continuing the unique interpretation, the script combines elements of the original radio script elements, and those introduced in the vinyl album (and later the books), such as the Dish of the Day and passages with Hotblack Desiato. I also think the Zaphod performance really stands out in this fit (espcially compared to earlier episodes), as Caleb and I became very practiced in sharing brainwaves. The all-new sound production that went into this fit does a lot to accent the dialogue, especially the sequence where Ford explains to Arthur why the universe ending won’t affect the restaurant.
Savvy listeners will hear evidence of the recent post-production work, especially the bit with the Devout Believers of the Church of the Second Coming of the Great Prophet Zarquon. Largely, though the Not Them Productions team strived not to redo any existng work and keep it “authentic” as possible to their original intentions eight years ago.
Infocom’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
As we mentioned last week, there was a particularly entertaining game
Apart from happening at about the same time, the mention of Ten-Thirteen is also appropriate during any discussion of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy because some of the gameplay was inspired by an ancient Infocom videogame.
The game has been enhanced with a graphic interface for its 20th anniversary — two variations developed by fans — on the BBC Radio 4 website.
