New TMNT trailer

Forum member spooie recorded this trailer when it played on Attack of the Show earlier this week. This is a new all CG Ninja Turtles movie that’s been in the works since I still had my original teeth.

The trailer is also available on MTV’s website though I’m completely incapable of playing it.

The not-so-real Ghostbusters coming to DVD

Filmation's Ghostbusters LogoChildren of the 80’s should remember well that there were in fact two cartoons with the name Ghostbusters. The difference being the cartoon based on the hilarious movie franchise was called the Real Ghostbusters. This is not the show we are talking about here. BCI, known for their releases of the original He-Man and She-Ra series, has put out a press release announcing the first box set of Filmation’s Ghostbusters on DVD. This 6 disc set will retail for 39.98 and should be available February 27th. Looks like it will be packed with lots of extras, just don’t expect to see Slimer or Gozer in any of them.

Also of note is that there were 65 episodes in all, so it will be likely that there will be one more set (volume 2) to complete the series.

PvP: The Animated Series

Scott Kurtz is taking a huge risk by turning PvP into an animated series with subscription based revenue model. And although I’m not 100% sold by this preview, I am however sold on the idea and will hand him my $20.

Kurtz spoke to Comic Book Resources recently and I’m totally with him wanting to do this on his own rather than letting someone Hollywood buy it and he loses control. Who knows, if it gets popular enough, he may be able to write his own distribution deal for TV and DVDs…

Happy Birthday Hello Kitty

32 years ago today the Sanrio company came up with the concept of a cat made out of some sort of marshmallow that took the world by storm. Join us as we celebrate the birth of the most popular character ever to be based on nothing.

Thanks to Trevor and Tash for letting me know about this day. Now here’s Hello Kitty showing you the finger:

Invicible Iron Man coming to DVD

ironman.jpg Ramping up to the big Iron Man feature and follow on the heels of 2 successful Ultimate Avengers direct-to-DVD releases, Lions Gate and Marvel will release Invicible Iron Man on January 23rd. The invincibly tiny cover art was provided by DavidDVD and heres a synopsis of the plot:

While raising the ruins of a long buried Chinese kingdom, billionaire inventor Tony Stark digs up far more than he bargained for. He unleashes an age-old prophecy that foretells the resurrection of the Mandarin, the emperor of China’s darkest and most violent dynasty. To confront this destructive force, Stark creates an armored suit infused with high-tech weaponry to stop the evil that he himself has raised form the earth.

I’m supposing this will take place inside the Ultimate Avengers continuity as a prequel or something.

Special features include featurettes on the origin of Iron Man, a gallery of Iron Man armor, and a first look at the 4th Marvel DVD feature, Dr. Strange. Suggested retail is $20 as usual but theres a Gift Set planned with Iron man and both Ultimate Avengers movies and a Marvel Icons Iron Man bust. That will set you back $60. They obviously carefully planned this gift set release for the busy Valentines day season. Ladies, you now know how to charm your comic nerd boyfriend, and its with cartoons and the torso of an alcoholic in a suit of armor.
