28 Weeks Later Trailer

I’ll tell you what. I liked 28 Days Later. I refuse to enter the zombies or not zombies debate, but that was a cool movie. Now comes 28 Weeks Later, which takes place… a while afterward. Movie opens May 11, so you’ve got something to watch the weekend between Spiderman and Pirates.

The sequel is an entirely different cast and crew, so this might well be rubbish. I do see Harold Perrineau is in the cast. What a rough break. He finally gets off that damn island and he has to put up with the infected…

Transformers 2007 One Sheet Posters

primemegafaceoff.jpg
Along with a story in USA Today, 2 new Transformers 2007 Movie posters have been released to the internet. These new one-sheet posters should be in theaters soon. One features the word “Protect” and the profile of Optimus Prime, the other “Destroy” and the profile of Megatron.

Also of note: The Transformers Myspace, where you can choose to befriend the Autobots or Decepticons.

Why anyone would want to befriend the robots with contempt for our race is beyond me. I mean, thats a pretty abusive relationship you’re jumping in to. People on Myspace are bad enough as it is.

Cream of the Comics – 03/28/2007

The Spirit #1 (2nd Printing)
The Spirit #1 (2nd Printing)
written and drawn by Darwyn Cooke

Darwyn Cooke is most recently known for his brilliant work on DC’s New Frontier book (Vol 1 & Vol 2), a story told around the Golden Age of DC. However, you might recognize his art style as being similar to the awesome Batman and Superman (and Batman Beyond) animated series of the ’90s, which is fitting, since he spent a lot of time doing storyboarding work for them. These days, however, he’s doing some fantastic storytelling every month in Will Eisner’s The Spirit.

The A-Team + Gears Of War = This Video

Mash-ups like this are appearing with greater frequency every day, but I’ll be darned if I don’t enjoy them when they’re good.

Here’s the opening titles to The A-Team with footage from Gears Of War.

WIRED 40 for 2007

wired1504.jpg
WIRED Magazine has just released their annual list spotlighting the best and brightest companies in tech.

The Wired 40 this year puts Nintendo on the list for the first time at an astounding #6. Microsoft, unstoppable juggernaut of the industry they are, barely made the list at #40. Don’t feel too bad for them: Sony didn’t make the list at all. Google and Apple retain their 1 & 2 spots from last year.

Bonus: a lenticular cover featuring The Office‘s Jenna Fischer.

South Park Studios profiled on Apple.com

southparkmac.jpg South Park may have a real simple look, but it takes 34 Apple G5 workstations and a hundreds of thousands of dollars in off the shelf software to give it that look.

Apple.com’s “Pro” section takes a look inside what it takes to produce the show. Though heavy on Mac evangilism (it is Apple’s site), the article contains some interesting information about South Park Studios. They work 120 Hour weeks during the season to get a show done in time for broadcast so its as current as that day’s news. I always assumed Comedy Central never ran clips in commercials because the show was hard to advertise in advance, or they didn’t want to spoil the jokes. Its actually because South Park is delivered mere hours before its aired.

Lost Classics: Kirby Super Star (SNES)

kirbysuperstar_box.pngPerhaps one of the last great Super Nintendo platformers, Kirby Super Star went above and beyond other games of its kind in terms of content. While most games simply offered huge overworld maps, this game divided its content up into 9 different games, each with their own distinct gameplay features. Although it can be beaten in a weekend, the game is still one of the best in the series. For those of you who don’t know about Kirby, he’s a little pink puff ball who swallows enemies. He can then either take on their powers for himself or spit out the enemy for use as a helper character, who can then be controlled by a second player.

$20 GOTW: Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox)

pzo.jpgOne of the best kept secrets of the original Sega Saturn was the Panzer Dragoon series. It was a mash up of 3-d polygonial graphics (which were ahead of their time even to this day) and old-school rail shooting action. You took control of a dragon rider, and it was your goal to bring down an evil empire. The story might have been all too typical, but it was window dressing for the intense sky-high combat. There were two more entries in the series before the Saturn was laid to rest, and the fate of the series was up in the air. That is, until 2003, when the series returned on the Xbox with a vengeance.
