NiGHTS Wii First Screens

nightswii.jpg
Remember all that NiGHTS talk? Yeah, its officially no joke now.

French gaming supersite Jeux-France got a hold of a game mag from Portugal, and now the first screen of the Wii sequel to NiGHTS are before our eyes. Thank goodness this web is as wide as the world, otherwise we might have had to wait days for the inescapable official announcement. Take a look at the screen here.

The time has finally come to take direct control the genderless jester! Now, given how few people actually had a Saturn and this game, is it possible they’ll find some way of re-releasing the original? Either the Virtual Console or a bonus on disc would be well worth it to get the cult classic into more hands.

Halo 2 Final Maps

halo2newmaps.jpg
Halo 3 may be mere months away. Halo 3’s beta may open very soon. But for only $4 on April 17th you can add 2 maps to Halo 2! These were announced a while ago, but held under wraps until today. Both are remakes of popular maps from the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Desolation is the new Derelict and Tombstone is the new Hang ‘Em High.
Some are griping that charging for content on a game that sold as well as it has is cheap, but the simple fact is that both of these maps were developed by Certain Affinity, a group of ex-Bungie staffers, so they had to get paid somehow.

Read up
on the new maps, and maybe enjoy some Master Chief-flavored Mountain Dew.

Spider-Man 3 News Roundup

Spider-Man 3 - Wide Images
Remember that recently released “final” trailer? Well, turns out it wasn’t so final after all. Less than a week later, they’ve released a new international trailer. It’s mostly recycled footage from previous stuff, but there’s a couple brief villain-centric scenes that haven’t been shown before. Check it out, in all its Windows Media Player streaming glory, in flavors hi-res, med-res, and lo-lo-lo-res. This is great, because what we really need right now is four hundred trailers for the film. Splice them together, and you almost won’t have to go to the movie.

Keep on after the jump for new wide images, Venom design notes, and why China gets the movie before North America. (Huh. So much for my trailer-splicing plan – looks like Chinese bootlegs will be the way to go.)

Ted Leo / Pharmacists – “Living With The Living”

“Bomb.Repeat.Bomb.”

Ted Leo may well be the best singer/songwriter working today.

A lofty claim, but not one that can’t be backed up quickly. Few who would listen to 2003’s Hearts Of Oak would be able to overlook the dramatic lyrics and hyper energized performance, evident in songs like “Where Have All The Rudeboys Gone?”. The album that followed, Shake The Sheets took Leo into even more charged political songs, releasing the album shortly before the 2004 US Presidential race.

3 years and an election behind, Ted Leo is no closer to satisfied, charging forward with renewed excitement and anger. [Read the rest of this entry…]

Swords To Plowshares, And Guns For Xboxes

Xbox 360s
Tired of shooting things in real life? Well, now you can trade in your gun and get an Xbox… If you live in Mexico City. Oh, and also, only if it’s a “smaller gun.” If you trade in a “high-caliber weapon like a machine gun” you get a computer instead. No word on if a BB Gun gets you an original Xbox. And hey, maybe they’re actually talking about the original Xbox and not the 360… But I tell you what – I’m not about to run down to Mexico with a bunch of guns to find out for myself. You, however, have that option available to you. (Not really. Please don’t try smuggling guns into Mexico.) So head down to Mexico and make the trade today (seriously, don’t though), and instead of shooting human beings with bullets, you’ll be shooting space aliens and Nazis on your TV!

GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

gtaiv.jpg
This has been a long time coming. The countdown clock to the first look at the proper sequel to Grand Theft Auto III has been running at Rockstar’s site for a while, leading up to this final moment.

Check it out. Hopefully it was worth the wait. I don’t know myself yet because I wrote this post a while ago and programed it to appear when the countdown clock reached zero.

3rd Mortal Kombat Movie Revamp

Mortal Kombat MovieA third Mortal Kombat movie has been “in the works” for quite some time now, and has had numerous delays and setbacks, and even more rumors thrown about. It’s seems, however, that the boys at IGN have recieved some honest reports as to the current status of the franchise movie production, as well as what changes are being made.

It seems you can forget about seeing Mortal Kombat III. Instead, the whole franchise will reportedly be getting the reboot treatment, a la Casino Royale and Batman Begins.” It appears that the previous script that had been planned out for the movie has been scrapped, and new drafts are being re-written, along with advisement from franchise head Ed Boon.

The whole article can be read here.

Before this, the 3rd movie held promise by stating that it was only going to skip over the horribly concocted second movie, Annihilation. However, this little bit of news makes it seem as though they will skip both movies, and start from scratch. It does interest me that they are still trying to get Christopher Lambert and Robin Shou, actors from the original movie, to reprise their respective roles. As for how they handle “revamping” the movie plans is anyone’s guess, and it will be interesting to see what the storyline will involve should this come to pass.

Kermit The Frog sings “Hurt”

Don’t let the novelty of the song get to you in the beginning, the video gets disturbing later on.
