The Office April Fools PSAs

dwight.jpgNBC’s remake of the Merchant/Gervais BBC comedy “The Office” has managed to become surprisingly brilliant on its own, exceeding the originals depth of characters and uncomfortable humor.
Taking it a couple steps further NBC presents 16 fake “More You Know…” PSAs featuring the cast of the show.

aDam drinks a bottle of salad dressing

I got into a little argument with some Firefly fans a while back. Not believing that there would actually be a wide release Firefly movie I made a vow that, should such a thing get widely distributed in theatres, I would drink a bottle of salad dressing… oops! Being a man of my word and a big whorish ham I have documented this gut wrenching event. Be entertained by my pain!

Dog The Bounty Hunter

dog.jpgLast night A&E started airing new episode of Dog The Bounty Hunter.  I’ve never been a nut about reality shows, and but Duane “Dog” Chapman’s family of Hawaiian bounty hunters are as consistently entertaining as anything scripted on TV.

The new season opened with a lead on a $75,000 bounty, taking the team to San Fransisco with a little less than 72 hours to catch a guy before they’d have to cough up all the money to the state.  They spent the better part of 3 years looking for this guy, and in 3 days chasing his friends all over town, they got him.  Dog has never failed to catch his man.

I really love this guy.  When I first started watching, I was kinda laughing at him and his obviously peculiar wife, brother, and sons (and other hangers-on) who work with him in the bail bonds business.  They deck themselves in leather, dark sunglasses, dangerous amounts of hair products, and T-shirts with “Lynard Skynard” or slogans like “Fighting Solves Everything.”  They don’t carry firearms, instead relying on an intimidating appearance and compassionate attitude to bring in their targets.

Yeah, compaission.  After they get done yelling “Down speed-freak!” and “Ice is the road to hell!” they usually buy their guy some mcdonalds, give them a smoke, let them call their mom, and then turn him into police.

I can’t suspend my cynacism though when they work out with wanted posters in front of them and coin phrases like “We are fishers of men” and the way Dog got all teary when recounting his father’s dying words:  “you are the world’s greatest bounty hunter!”

God, I must sound like a dumb fanboy with this post, but I can’t help it.  Its funny.  Hilarious, even.  From the Ozzy intro to the group prayer before the hunt, I can’t stop laughing at and with this show.  They’re bizarre, they’re crazy, and they’re what I want to be when i grow up.

Futurama does not Return?

FuturamaIts seems Billy West, the voice of Fry, has posted again on his message board to retract his statement about 26 new episodes of Futurama. It does appear that there will be some sort of Futurama project coming out in the future but a new season is not currently on the agenda, sadly.

From the post:

Guys,
I’m sorry I gave inaccurate info on the cartoon.I was told on one end that the
TV show was a go but DXC enlightened me (with a hammer) that this was
not the case.I think there is a Futurama project as in DVD’s but I appearently
had bad info. But I do live to give good Futurama news to people. So I must’ve
died or something.

All eyes on the skies,

Billy

Thanks to Sam for the heads up.

MOTU Exclusive Sorceress Mini-Statue from AFX.com

Exclusive Sorceress Mini-StatueAction Figure Express has an exclusive version of the Masters of the Universe Sorceress mini-statue coming up from the Four Horsemen. The colors of the regular statue reflect those shown in the animated series from 2004. The exclusive statue uses the color scheme the Four Horsemen originally proposed to Mattel for the show. The colors are very similar to the original scheme from the character in the 80’s version of the animated series.

You can order this statue here. I have a feeling I’ll be ordering one.

Futurama returns!

FuturamaThe voice of Fry from Futurama, Billy West, has made a post to his message board making a brief disclaimer to a new poster and then continuing on to say that he is in negotiations to do 26 new episodes of Futurama that will most likely air on television before a dvd release.

From the post:

I’m thisclose to selling my show–”Billy Bastard–Amateur Human Being,”
And the other good news is that they’re doing 26 new episodes of
”Futurama” for TV and we’re hammering out the deal now.The original
plan was to have the DVD’s first but that’s no longer the case.I’m totaly
jammed dude.

Greetings from the year 3000! It still sucks!

Billy
