ToyFair 2006 – A look back: Marvel Legends

Marvel LegendsToy Fair 2006 came and went pretty fast with a deluge of new initiatives by most of the toy companies. In all the press, it was easy to miss several of the more prominent announcements, nevermind the smaller ones. One of the larger initiatives shown came from Toy Biz on their plans with the future of the Marvel Legends Line. Things are looking up if you follow this fan-favorite line.

The next 4 waves of the main line were tentatively announced, each with its own build-a-figure in the tradition of Galactus, The Sentinel and Apocalypse. Each figure in the wave will come with one piece of the larger figure included. When you have all the figures in the wave (not including chase variants) you will have all the pieces necessary to assemble the larger figure.

New Mini-con molds, War Within molds, and Ransack repaint

TitaniumLogoBigBadToyStore.com has posted several pre-orders for upcoming products that include pictures of figures that were not yet revealed to the public. Among these include a new team of mini-cons, War Within Jetfire, War Within Thundercracker, and a repaint of Cybertron Ransack named Ransack GT.

The War Within figures will be part of the upcoming Transformers Titanium line of transforming 6 inch figures that were revealed at Toy Fair 2006 a few weeks ago. These are added to the currently known line up of War Within Optimus Prime and a Megatron figure that is believed by some to be in the War Within design. The Megatron figure on display at Toy Fair was heavily mistransformed and hard to tell what version he was exactly.

Thanks to Sam for digging up the Titanium logo.

[UPDATE: It seems BigBadToyStore has taken the images down after probably posting them by mistake in the first place. I have added them to this post. Click Read more to see them. – Crazy]

Production Error in Marvel Legends Apocalypse Series

Marvel LegendsFor those who are avid collectors of the Marvel Legends line of action figures from Toy Biz, it should be known that there was a production error in the early batches released to stores. The error pertains to the Maestro figure (future version of the Hulk). Maestro comes with one of Apocalypse’s arms, however in the early batches he is missing the tube connecting the back of his arm to his lower back. So when purchasing Maestro make sure you see the tube coiled up in the packaging before taking it to the register.

If you already have one of these Maestro figures missing the tube, you can either return it and get the correct one or you can call Toy Biz Customer Service at 1-800-728-2018. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to arrive, but it came in 2 weeks.

The Toy Biz site itself has a note on this here.

It has been brought to our attention that the bonus piece that comes with Maestro Hulk is missing. The missing piece is a tube that connects Apocalypse’s left arm to his torso. If you have recently purchased a Maestro Hulk and are missing this tube, please contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-728-2018 for replacement. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers to Toy Biz for addressing the matter in such an accommodating way.

New Cobra Commander is dumb

sigcc.jpgI really wanted one of these, until I saw it.

I’ve never been huge on GI Joe, and the new Sigma 6 line doesn’t irk me like a lot of hard core 12″ or 3 3/4″ fans.  I figured I’d wait until I saw the new Cobra Commander figure and buy it, like I’ve done with the last few lines.

Since I don’t make it into the toy aisles as much as I’d like, and still hadn’t seen him, I just did a search on Hasbro’s official toy show.

Wow.  What a dog turd. Oddly enough, if they gave him a new head, colored him yellow and called the toy Serpentor, I’d be all over it.  I’m funny that way.
