Welcome to the Powet Top 5, where we explore the top (and bottom) 5 items we think are relevant to any of a variety of topics that span the imagination. Sit back, read, and respond.

In 2006, Hasbro unleashed Transformers: Classics. Featuring heritage characters re-imagined with modern technology, the line was an instant hit with collectors. Now, 6 years later, the idea behind the Classics line has been revisited again and again, with homages to vintage characters popping up everywhere. Today, we’ll take a look at 5 of the best updates to these classic characters!

MOTUC He-Man and BattleCat on sale today for $30 together

He-Man turns 30 years old this year. To celebrate, MattyCollector is having a one-day sale today, October 12, 2012. For US$30 you can pick up the He-Man & BattleCat Party Pak. That is both figures for just 30 dollars. Keep in mind that BattleCat alone sells for $33 by himself. This great deal is definitely the time to pick these two figures up either for yourself or to stow away as a gift for the holidays.

As a side note, this is pretty telling that Mattel went back into production for both He-Man and BattleCat with a significant production run to be willing to sell them for this low of a price.

Play Pokémon Black and Blue

PETA's Pokémon Black and Blue

Pokémon Black and White 2 are out this week… but who cares about that? Pokémon Black and Blue is free to play! This game is made by the infamous PETA and is a commentary on the dog fighting like world that is the world of Pokémon.

PETA gets a lot of flack for their sensationalist shenanigans but this time I think they’re pretty much right on the money. The game insinuates that Pokémon are basically owned as slaves who are inhumanely forced to fight each other against their wishes. Ash Ketchum is basically the Michael Vick of Pokémon. In this version you don’t play as a trainer but as Pikachu and other Pokémon who are liberating Pokémon from their evil trainers. This game is obviously made by people who are big fans of Pokémon with all of the great references in it from Mudkips to the parallels between PETA and Team Plasma. Check out the game that’s embedded below.

WWE 13 Updated Creative Suite, DLC, and Universe 3.0 Details

Looks like THQ is going all out for this year’s WWE 13. If you’ve seen any news on the game, you already know that the game will feature storylines and characters from the “Attitude Era” in place of the series’ Road to Wrestlemania mode, along with ‘dramatic moments’ such as ring collapses, and barricade breaks. However, the creative suite features will also make a return, and the Universe Mode had been upgraded as well. Check out the trailer up above and see more details after the jump.

$20 Game of the Week: Eversion (PC)

As we all know, Halloween is this month, so instead of doing one big long horror themes Lost Classics/20 GOTW at the end of the month, I’ll do several smaller $20 GOTW each week of the month and throw in a horror themes Lost Classic and Maximum Letdown as well. This is the first of several horror themed 20GOTWs each week of this month. Most of them will be indie releases, but if you want a good scare, check them out! This week’s game is Zaratustra Productions’ Eversion, an innocent looking platformer, or at least it starts out that way. The Lovecraft quote at the beginning of the game and the developer’s warning that this isn’t for kids should cause some alarm.

New Wizards of Waverly Place special in the works

Selena Gomez as good and evil Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place

The Wizards of Waverly Place TV show ended earlier this year. Though many have been hopeful for some sort of follow up movie, we haven’t had any real confirmation of this… until now! The show’s star Selena Gomez has confirmed in a Radio Disney interview (included below) that a new one hour Wizards of Waverly Place special will be airing on Disney Channel early next year. She will star and be executive producer on the project.

The story has the Russo family traveling to Tuscany where Alex splits herself into Good and Evil Alex. The climax of the movie will have the two battling at the tower of Pisa. I haven’t seen a Good and Evil version of someone battle over the tower of Pisa since Superman 3. Hopefully this one won’t take place in front of a blue screen.
