Terminator 2 Minimates to bring about cutest Judgement Day yet

I reported on some leaked control art for Terminator 2 minimates a while back. We have some more details on them now from Minimate Headquarters.

There are two separate assortments to begin. The first is a case of single-packed minimates consisting of 5 different terminators with a rare chase figure of General John Connor. This was the control art that we had seen previously. This is more or less the same treatment the Battlestar Galactica Minimates got with the single-boxed Cylons.
The different Terminators include:
T-800 Endoskeleton
T-800 Endoskeleton Battle Damaged with Gatlin Gun
T-800 Half Human Terminator
T-1000 Cop
and our rare variant General John Connor
(see group shot after the jump)

The second assortment will be the first wave in an ongoing line of Terminator 2 themed minimates (pictured above). The wave will include:
Terminator (T800) & John Connor
Final Battle T1000 & Battle Damage Sarah Connor
Endoskeleton & Battle Damage T800
VARIANT: Endoskeleton & Kyle Reese

Transformers 2: First Official Toy Images of Soundwave and Bumblebee

Empire Online has the dramatic first look at the Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen toy line with the two preview figures to be released in May.
Bumblebee has been revamped from the first movie with a new head, some new paint details and the car mode has been altered to more greatly resemble the production version of the Camaro.
Soundwave is of course a brand new toy, showing his Cybertronian form, not unlike the 2007 preview toys. What other form he might take in the movie remains a mystery.

Mickey Rourke Heading To Wrestlemania

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Academy, for your consideration of Best Actor In a Motion Picture and In a Wrestling Ring, I reccomend Mickey Rourke.

After a command performance as over-the-hill wrestler Randy The Ram in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, he’s apparently going to keep the act up. Vince McMahon has invited Rourke to compete in Wrestlemania 25 on April 5. He announced such on the red carpet at the SAG awards Sunday night, see video here.

I really loved The Wrestler and thought Mickey was great inhabiting that character, so flawed but immediately likable. The very fact that he’ll be taking The Ram into the ring against Chris Jericho proves he deserves that Oscar more than anyone else in the category. Is Sean Penn going to keep doing speeches in character as Harvey Milk? Is Frank Langella going to keep talking like Nixon? Is Brad Pitt going to get progressively younger? NO! Mickey Rourke runs this.

Live-Action Anime: Good or Bad Idea?

Within the past decade or so, we Americans have seen a trend of comic book-based movies and adaptations from books all over the silver screen. In fact, it’s become so commonplace that we expect it now. If there not a summer blockbuster that isn’t based on a comic or a book, good or bad, then it hasn’t been a fulfilling year, has it? Even the success of Transformers has proven that other venues can be tapped for potential in the film industry.

So it’s only fitting that anime become the next big thing to be converted by Hollywood. And that’s got potential in and of itself, right?

Perhaps not as much as you’d think.

Fox Relinquishes Back ‘Watchmen’

Everyone say “Yay” now.

After some high-stress moments for comic nerds everywhere, Fox has resolved their dispute with Warner Bros. over the distribution rights of the Watchmen title. Originally stating copyright infringement and taking Warners to court in an effort to gain rights as a co-distributor for the Watchmen movie that will be in theaters later this year, Fox has settled the case on an undisclosed agreement with Warners, though large sums of cash and future sequel profits have been mentioned to be involved states Entertainment Weekly.

Both studios acknowledge the other’s follies in the matter, and though heated arguments and hurtful words may have been thrown about during the proceedings, Fox says it looks forward to the release of Watchmen in March along with every other geek in the country. You know, at the expense of film co-producer Larry Gordon’s folly for not buying out the rest of the rights from Fox when he had the chance of course. Thanks for the honking-big scare, Larry!

Keanu Reeves is Spike Spiegel

NO.

Remember 3 years ago when we first got wind of what was going on with a Transformers live action movie? How some people cried and said it was all wrong? How some of those people are still saying that?
I join their ranks today. Cowboy Bebop is becoming a Hollywood movie and they’ve got a 44 year old washed up Keanu Reeves to play 27 year old Spike Spiegel. Lets do this movie a solid, get Shia Labeouf as Jet Black, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Vicious and just purposely try to make it the worst thing ever.
I know in my heart this movie will not get made, like so many other anime and comic adapations with bad casting or direction from the get go. But mark my words, if this reaches the screen it will make that Dragonball movie look like Heat.

Variety: Keanu Reeves set for ‘Bebop’
