Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.
Star Trek has created a wonderful universe for fans to enjoy, and all along the only theme reoccurring as consistently as a captain screwing ladies and technobabble is some kind of ship named “Enterprise”. With a seemingly limitless number of ships bearing that name, I will attempt to explore some of the more memorable ones, but before thinking about all those space ships, it’s important to note that many real vessels carried the name even before Star Trek revolutionized the world of science fiction.
The above scene from the horrible “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” is just a glimpse of the many ships that have carried the name “Enterprise”. When thinking of the word as meaning an undertaking or endeavour, it is an inspirational word fitting for a starship, or a simple sea faring vessel. From the begining of the 18th century until today 15 ships of the Royal Navy have carried the name “HMS Enterprise” or “HMS Enterprize”, starting with a 24-gun frigate captured from the French Navy. This particular ship is featured in the opening credits of “Star Trek: Enterprise” as well as in Jonathan Archer’s ready room. A number of aircraft carriers have also carried the name. Many of these existed prior to Star Trek, but after the show’s great success, real ships would be named after the fictional Enterprise. This is precisely what happened when a huge letter writing campaign convinced President Gerald Ford to name the first space shuttle “Enterprise”. This shuttle unfortunately never did fly in space, though apparently it will in the Star Trek universe.

So the Terminator franchise is on the auction block because Halcyon is on the verge of bankruptcy. I guess they figured, they’ll just give away the last movie for free.
Go to CinemaNow and enter promo code “TS201023” and after a short registration, they’ll give you a digital copy of the movie. Of course its DRM protected and will have to playback in a DivX player. Why would they let you have it free if you could share it with everybody?
If you’re willing to give them your email address and sit at your PC, go ahead and have a free movie.

Man that was a loaded headline. You get all that?
AC/DC are contributing what appears to be the entire soundtrack to the next Marvel motion picture. The above video is “Shoot To Thrill” which is a song that originally appeared on AC/DC’s Back In Black album (which most of you should own since its sold 49 million copies and sits behind Thriller as the #2 highest selling album). the album AC/DC: Iron Man will release on April 19, and has 15 tracks.
The video has some new footage not seen in existing trailers, and a lot of stuff we’ve seen. Its all intercut with a performance from AC/DC last month in Buenos Aires from December 2009.
Its unlikely that the whole movie will be filled with AC/DC songs, but “Back In Black” was a big part of the first Iron Man’s advertising and soundtrack so I guess they’re just trying to fill out some corporate cross promotional potential. Still, if you never bought and AC/DC record, this might not be a bad start.

Diamond Select Toys had a huge reveal showcasing the upcoming 2 assortments of minimates associated with the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 movie. With the exception of one ‘high-flying armor-clad character’ all of the Wave 35 figures were revealed. It was also mentioned that the Hammer Drones were featured briefly in the trailer where Iron Man and War Machine had to fight an entire squad. I’m assuming the final armor clad character is going to be the final big bad in the movie, but only time will tell.
The line-up is as follows:
Pepper Potts w/ Army Builder Hammer Drone
Happy Hogan w/ Army Builder Hammer Drone
Iron Man
War Machine
Whiplash
as yet unnamed armored character (Titanium Man? Crimson Dynamo?)
Single packed figures in display box: (think cylon centurions)
Air Assualt Drone
Ground Assault Drone
Sea Assault Drone
Tactical Assault Drone
Justin Hammer
Battle Damaged Hammer Drone
