Powet Alphabet: M is for Metropolis

Metropolis. Most readers have probably heard of this movie at one point or another. I would bet few have ever actually seen it, though.

It has many achievements to its name; one of the highest number of extras of any movie, the most expensive silent film ever made, but most importantly for the science fiction genre, the first movie to ever feature a female android, or gynoid. This is one of the many reasons that M is for Metropolis.

Read on to learn more about the movie and why we care about it.

Powet Alphabet: L is for Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf in the Even Stevens episode "Lucious Lou"
Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

Shia LaBeouf, the greatest actor of our time, has done many amazing things, yet is constantly the butt of fanboy’s jokes as they accuse him of having raped their childhood. Let’s take a look at the life of this amazing man!

Shia was born in a Jewish hippy household in 1986. His family name “LaBeouf” is a spelling nightmare of the French “Le Boeuf” or “The Bull”. With parents that were free spirited performers it’s no surprise he made the career choices that he did. LaBeouf, who has a natural comedic talent which is often overlooked, began performing at comedy clubs as young as the age of 10, and pursued various shitty roles in TV shows until his big break.

In 1999 Shia landed the lead role in the Disney Channel comedy series Even Stevens. This was a hilarious show which to this day is the only thing to fully exploit his vast array of comedic ability. Even at 13 years old right from the first season this show featured some hilarious episodes like “Battle of the Bands” and “Movie Madness” which are full of top notch performances by Shia.

First Look at a New Voltron Movie?

Back a long while ago, I had posted about a live-action Voltron movie supposedly in the works, though it’s been many years since mention has been made of the issue since.

Looks like there’s still hope, though. JoBlow.com has some exclusive photos of the new movie up on their site.

It appears that Atlas Entertainment has taken the reins on the project and is gearing up a pretty impressive pitch. Apparently, they’ve hired the currently hot screenwriting
tag-team of Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. The names may not sound familiar to you, but they might soon. The duo wrote the upcoming CONAN flick, and are currently scribing the DR. STRANGE and UNCHARTED: DRAKE’S FORTUNE adaptations

Color this Voltron fan excited.

First Images of Captain America Set

A bunch of Captain America movie news has come across our desk today. It would appear Chris Evans’ stunt double was caught on set in full Captain America costume/armor. Additional pictures of the set, itself, have popped up on this blog. Apparently their company is in the middle of the area that is being turned into a 1940’s locale and they are keeping a blog to keep us up to date on all the excitement surrounding them.
