Optimus Prime’s movie truck mode

Ain’t It Cool News comes through with another spoiler picture from the set of Michael Bay’s Transformers movie.

Seeing Brawl, the Decepticon police cruiser was cool. Seeing part of Bumblebee’s robot mode was cooler still.

But we all want to see Optimus Prime. Theres a picture of the truck after the jump. Prepare yourself. Just take a deep breath before clicking, and clear your thoughts of anything you might have thought Optimus Prime would look like.

If you want to take your time, look at some footage from the always vapid E! channel’s set visit.

[Update on 7/13/06 with more info after the jump]

Rocky Balboa

Rocky comes out of retirement after seeing a video game simulation say he could beat the current champ in a fight.
Honestly, if this weren’t the 6th installment in the series, more people would be excited. The trailer looks good. I’m guessing they didn’t call it “Rocky VI” because they don’t want people thinking the franchise is as tired out as Rocky himself is.
I’m going to save the hate for the supposed “Rambo vs al Queada” movie Sly wants to make next, but Rocky Balboa, at least from this preview, gets my vote of approval.

On set with Michael Bay and Transformers

baydirecting.jpgOver at Ain’t It Cool News Quint spends a day in the desert with Michael Bay.
He goes into great detail about his set visit at Holloman Air Force Base while shooting an attack scene featuring Scorponok. Scorponok erupts from the ground sending soldiers flying as they struggle to call in for back up. Quint informs us there were a lot of explosions.
He also describe’s Scorponok’s tail, as it was one of the few peices constructed:

I walked up to the tail laying on the ground, the non-pointy end buried in the sand. It was silver metal, almost like links in a chain as it got shorter and shorter until it got to the spear-tip. The tip had 4 nasty looking barbs all hooked with a giant skewer barb that would thrust out between the 4 barbs.

Bay also shot a video introduction for the official site, and hopes to have an animatic of a Transformer up there pending Paramount approval.

Bandai acquires rights to live action Cutie Honey movie

Anime on DVD reports that Bandai has acquired the rights to the live action Cutie Honey movie. This movie by Hideaki Anno of Evangelion fame is a live action version of the popular comic and manga. It’s an over the top action/comedy/drama movie that’s hard to compare to anything else but is certainly worth checking out.

Thanks to Dave for the heads up.
