Harry Potter in 3D!

Hot 3D!!!

I’ve always been a fan of 3D technology. Being a huge fan of the show The Bots Master and of optical illusions in general it’s a concept which always fascinated me. With such juvenile movies as Spy Kids and Shrek being the main 3D movies in theatres lately I was excited to hear that Harry Potter, a movie which was actually paleteable to me, had 3D in it. Excited, that is, until I actually got to see it.

I went to see the movie in Imax and though the 3D was only for the last 15 minutes or so of the movie it was so bad that I would have gladly watched the movie on normal film to avoid the crapulescence. It uses stereoscopic 3D using glasses with differently coloured lenses, meaning everything looked like it was flickering and there was almost always an after imagine on the right and left of objects, due to the fact that the movie was not in black and white so that even if it was colour shifted to be visible through one eye, there was still a shifted image for the other.

Justice League: The New Frontier Animated Preview

I was browsing through my feeds this afternoon, specifically the Blogs@Newsarama feed and saw the following preview posted to YouTube. It looks pretty interesting. It will be based off of Darwyn Cooke’s comic that was highly influenced by the silver age of DC comics. This trailer was shown at SDCC and will apparently be released in Spring 2008, though the B@N post says February 2008. Keep your eyes open for more info and feel free to share any thoughts on the trailer in the comments!

Batman Anime Slated

Batman LogoWord cycling around the interweb recently is that a new Batman anime movie piece is going to be thrown in as a companion piece to the recent Christian Bale Batman movies. You heard me; a Batman Anime.

The animated film, which will bridge the gap left between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, will introduce a few new characters, as well as develop some already existing ones. The plot has yet to be fully revealed thus far, but hopes for a PG-13 release not long before the second movie drops into theaters. Batman Begins Screenwriter David Goyer has put his talents into this little piece, as well as comic book writer Brian Azzarello and others.

How this will classify as “anime” has yet to be seen, and will be interesting to keep an eye on.

Iron Man Movie Teaser

The studios and ComiCon really ought to provide official versions of these teasers online. But, if Shakycam is what I get, Shakycam is what I’ll take. Here is Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark.

Sorry guys, the video got taken down. I had a backup bookmarked on another site, but that one got taken down too. I’ll keep looking!”

LEGO Indiana Jones!

After the success of LEGO Star Wars, the next game announced was to be LEGO Batman, but now out of nowhere we get a trailer for LEGO Indiana Jones!

I won’t complain about more LEGO games, but I was kind of hoping I’d get Batman first… Oh well, I can’t wait to see how the infamouse Nazi face-melting works on LEGO characters. Or ripping a LEGO heart out of a LEGO Chest.

The Dark Knight Teaser and the Joker’s Dossier

WhySoSerious.com has the trailer. No footage, but there is spoken dialog from Bruce and Alfred followed by another voice…

We also get the full Police Report on the Joker’s Death. Yeah, death. Whats this all mean? Your guess is as good as mine. See you in December.

ReTurn Of ReBoot

rebootcast.jpg
The Hollywood Reporter says that Mainframe’s TV classic CG animated series ReBoot will be brought back as a trilogy of feature films.

Mainframe was acquired by Rainmaker Animation last year, and they will produce the movies in house.

The story isn’t finalized yet, its something that will be up to fans. Zeroes2Heroes will be putting up pitches and samples from 5 writing teams on July 26th and fans will choose which direction the new ReBoot will take.

Something that isn’t clear in the article is if this will be a sequel, another story set in the same universe, or a flat out remake. Rainmaker seems to have some respect for the fans, so hopefully the tone will remain true to the original, and the original voice talent will be brought back on to reprise their roles.
