Confessions Of A Superhero

Here’s a nice independant documentary about the lives of out of work actors who dress up as comic characters. No indication of a wide release, but keep and eye on your local art house.

Justice League Movie Casting, Story Updates

brave_bold_28.jpgA lot of news with the League, I’ll start with the people…
Firstly, my big awesome idea of putting Welling in tights isn’t going to fly. Will it be Routh? How many Supermen do we need?
Next, Jessica Biel was apparently offered and then passed the role of Wonder Woman. As much as I’d like to see her in this outfit, I don’t think she’s right for the role. We got one shot, the gal they cast should be an amazon. A relative unknown, Victoria Hill has been tested for the role, and may just get it.
UGO got a leak of the supposed script for Justice League, and it sounds like a mixture of the comics Tower Of Babel and some of the OMAC/Brother Eye stuff. Basically elaborating on Batman’s files on how to take down the other leaguers, and them falling in the wrong hands, and being used to turn them against each other. They imply a shocking ending thats on par with “Luke, I am your father.”

The script could be a fake, the casting is still far from finished, but with so much chatter on the blogs, the early buzz is starting to become genuine hype. I hope they can deliver, because as I’ve said with all adaptations: I’d rather have NO movie than a BAD one.

Fantastic Four Nothingness Review

Fantastic Four Nothingness Review
A review of the ricockulous pre-order incentive that comes with the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie.

$0 gets you nothing, apparently.

George Miller Will Direct Justice League

happyleague.jpg
From the man who brought you Babe: Pig In The City and Happy Feet will come the big screen debut of DC’s best and brightest: The Justice League.

Let’s forget that Miller hasn’t directed anything other than children’s movies in the past 15 years. Let forget that Warners is pushing a movie with Superman and Batman into theaters when they already have independent Superman and Batman series. Instead, let’s think of the one way this might be good: Tom Welling as Superman. He’s paid his dues, time to give him the cape. Include the Leaguers already on Smallville, set it in Smallville’s universe, and get Rosenbaum as Luthor while you’re at it. Keep Bale and Batman out of it.

Variety says the movie will begin casting and go into production soon to be completed before the Hollywood strike, planned for a 2009 release. Right around when Bryan Singer was hoping to get Man of Steel out. Ugh.

Transformers/Terminator On The Way?

tfterminator.jpg

Here’s something we missed during our brief Powet-outage.
From Monday’s Lying In The Gutters:

CYBERTRON VS CYBERDENE

I understand there’s a “Transformers/Terminator” comic book series on the way. Will it be Dynamite, will it be IDW?

Will it be as bad as “Transformers/Avengers?” No.

Sounds alright to me. Hopefully they’ll get a good writer attached, I nominate Greg Pak.

X-Men Disassembled Teaser

X-Men Disassembled Teaser Post Banner

On Friday, Marvel released a teaser image for what appears to be another Marvel event focusing on the X-Men. I’ve mirrored the image below. The only other information released with it was a date. September 10th, 2007. Thats tomorrow. Whatever this is about will most likely be announced at a Diamond event for ‘Direct Market retailers’.

Is it me, or is that Hisako (Armor from Astonishing X-Men) in the upper right corner of the teaser?

Masters of the Universe comic strip

MOTU comic strip Post Banner

American Comic Strip blog, Stripper’s Guide, has up a post on a Masters of the Universe comic strip that was published for just shy of a year from July 1986 through June 1987. There was apparently both a daily strip and a weekly Sunday strip. Alan Holtz, the Stripper’s Guide blogger, is clearly not much of a He-Man fan, but did some research and found little to no information on this strip from fan sites or the like after some extensive googling. As a casual, He-Man fan, this is the first I have heard of any such strip and would love to see it in its entirety if it can be found.

If you know anything about this strip or have anything to add, post in the comments. We’d love to hear what you know.
