Famicom Dojo Podcast: Region Free America

I signed the petition mainly out of solidarity. My interest in Japan-only/foreign releases is mostly from the Famicom/Super Famicom era, so the work-arounds are pretty simple for playing the stuff I like. My American SNES is de-tabbed and I use an AV Famicom as my primary NES and just use a 72-to-60 pin adapter for playing American games. Since the hardware is largely identical, it’s smooth sailing most of the time, regardless of region (unless I’m trying to play US Castlevania 3).

However, I hate the idea of how modern games can be locked out so completely, at the root level, from functioning on legit hardware simply because it’s from another region. I dislike the idea of companies having that kind of power over what I can buy/play and wouldn’t want anyone else to have to deal with that either. Language should be the only legitimate barrier to keep me from playing a game.

Basically what I’m saying here is shut up and take my money.
