This game looks so cool; now I have a Genesis, so I totally want to track it down (if I can even find it). The main guy looks like Riff from Sluggy Freelance… or is it more fair to say that Riff looks him…?

I grabbed the Genesis compilation that came out last year and was really looking forward to playing this game.

Of course like many Sega games its fucking hard so I haven’t gotten past the first level.

I too was taken a back by the exclusion of the Sega Saturn.

I was thinking home hardware, so Sega CD, 32x, then Saturn.

Sega CD and 32X were both out before Comix Zone was released, and the Saturn came out right around the same time as the game itself, so technically I was right to say they were “working” on the Dreamcast because the Saturn was already done. (don’t have an exact date on CZ’s release)

I was hoping you’d get around to this one eventually. Aside from S&K + Sonic 2, this is easily my favorite Genesis game. I first played it way back when the Sega Channel was still available. And being the Nintendo fanboy that I once was (boy did the Wii help me see the error of my ways) I almost missed out on this game.

The nomad wasn’t really a system, just a genesis with a built in screen. Then again, the 32x was a hardware addon, and I don’t believe they made a standalone Sega CD unit (although I could be wrong) so I don’t think that counts either. The Saturn counts as a system, sure, but it was crap!

GREAT GAME.
Strangely… I played this game constantly on the PC. I don’t know why. I guess Sega went through a PC phase, putting their greatest hits on CD format. It may have even come with the Packard Bell with Windows 95. Everything was the same… but I think the graphics were a little more high-res and the music was pure MIDI.

I never beat it as a kid… never even got close to the 3rd stage boss. Maybe it’s time to go back and finish the job.
