25 Years of Ghostbusters

June 8th, 1984 was the release date of probably one of the most important movies of the 20th century. Universally loved, maintaining dedicated fans who would memorize the film and its theme song. A classic special effects film, a sharp comedy, and an epic tale of heroism in one. Spawning a sequel, two animated series, and launching its stars into comedy godhood.

Ghostbusters is, without a doubt, one of the funniest and most fascinating movies ever made. Reaching the climax of the film, as the streets are lined with fans eager to cheer on the Ghostbusters toward the finale, its hard to believe that none of these people had actually seen the movie yet. It was still being filmed. It was almost as if it was destined to be not just a success, but a legend.

I can’t compose a fitting tribute to this movie in a simple article, so I’ll just say that its a classic that deserves to be enjoyed over and over and over again. I’ve probably seen it a hundred times in 25 years and still found myself laughing watching it again tonight for this anniversary.

Its also impossible for me to write this without inserting some memorable lines so: Thats a big twinkie, you are a poor scientist, don’t cross the streams, does this pole still work, we got one, yes have some.
