KEEP PLAYING: Rewind – Alisia Dragoon

I’m really annoyed that I missed out on the Sega Genesis era of games.

The Genesis had some seriously slept on titles. This is one of them. SMH @ me for not including this in Lost Classics though, lol.

All I can say is be prepared to be called out on that sole female protagonist comment, if you haven’t already. People will probably cite Metroid, although I’m no video gaming historian. Valis is the game that first came to mind for me when I heard that though.
Definitely enjoyed the review though.

She’s *one* of the sole female protagonist available in the early games of NES and Genesis. I didn’t say the only one. Obviously Samus is the most notable, but beyond her debut, what other games had a female as THE main playable character? Not many.

Looks like a good game. Reminds me a lot of the old SNES game, Magic Sword.

Princess Toadstool was never a “sole” female protagonist until the DS, and wasn’t actually a playable character except for in SMB2, which originally didn’t include the Princess, or Mario for that matter, as it is actually the game Doki Doki Panic with a palette swap.

This game is a classic and probably one of the better platformer games for the Genesis. Right up there with Vectorman and Comix Zone. And since it cost only a whopping $4 at Game Craze, I’d say it’s a definite buy for anyone who still plays Sega games from when they made something worth playing. Not like Condemned and today’s version of Sonic the Hedgehog.
