Top 5: Movie Parody Music Videos
by FakeTrout, filed in Movies on Aug.07, 2008
I’m sure you’ve seen some music videos that knock heavily on scenes from movies, and here are five of my favorites. Excluding the obvious Weird Al ones, and stuff that just has movie scenes worked into the band playing, the Powet Top 5 are…
Jay-Z featuring Blackstreet
“City Is Mine”
The Usual Suspects
Sean Carter is interrogated by Detective Rappaport, in the same manner as Verbal Kint by Agent Kujan in the movie. The video mimics a couple scenes, and ultimately duplicates the movie’s twist. Who is Jay-Z?
Method Man & Red Man
“Whateva Man”
The Blues Brothers
Not quite a “mission from God” but this is before the duo scored this hit before putting out a record together or starring in “How High.” The track is hot, and a couple Blues Brothers scenes are present, but I can’t make heads or tails of the ending.
Sum 41
“In Too Deep”
Back To School

Ok, so the entire video takes place around the pool and the reference is cleverly hidden. Drummer Steve Jocz mimic’s Rodney Dangerfield’s unlikely winning dive from Back To School at the end.
Snow Patrol
“Signal Fire”
Spider-Man 1 and 2
This is kind of a cheat since its from the soundtrack to Spider-Man 3, but its got a school play recreation of the events of the first 2 movies. Its a very clever video, and the song is great.
Alien Ant Farm
“Movies”
Ghostbusters, Willy Wonka, Karate Kid, Edward Scissorhands

Perhaps the ultimate movie tribute video, with an appearance by Pat Morita.
