Pumpkin! With Halloween quickly approaching, it’s commonplace to expect some big-news action being spewed out from Hollywood, and the past few weeks have been no exception. However, even with Saw IV having been released to theaters this past Friday, it looks as if the holiday season doesn’t have nearly as many horror-based films being shown as some might like. (with the exception of Nightmare Before Christmas 3D being re-released again this season, and “30 Days of Night”)

** Fangoria has recently touched upon rumors, not only of an Exorcist remake, but also writes in that Child’s Play producer David Kirschner has been heard making mention of a possible remake of his 1988 cult classic horror film of the same name. In this day of everything and it’s mother being revamped into a remake (Rob Zombie’s take on “Halloween” not too long ago as well as “Amityville Horror” a while back, just to name a few), it’s not surprising to see such rumors being tossed about.
However, I’ll weep if anyone tries to revamp “Friday the 13th”. That’s just going too far.

** A new movie for classic creepy action director Tim Burton has surfaced about. “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” looks to be a Jack-the-Ripper-meets-Phantom-of-the-Opera type dark musical flick, staring none other than Burton’s favorite partner in theatrical crime: Johnny Depp. Some trailers have popped up that show off Burton’s new little tale, and very much emphasize his particular tastes in directing.

** And, just for kicks, Entertainment Weekly has a nice little featurette, “11 Great Hollywood Vampires“, up on their site. And some of the ones on their might either make you cringe, or make you bust out laughing. Also related features such as “13 Lessons from Watching Scary Movies” just goes to show you that you can’t learn enough from idiot teenagers in slasher flicks.
