Hasbro Marvel Legends Wave 1 …Recalled?

A reader over at Action-Figure.com wrote in to the site with the following message:

Adrian,

Thought you’d like to know: Toys R Us has received an RTV (Return to Vendor) order for the entire Series 1 release for Marvel Legends.

In black and white on the RTV order, the reason for the recall states “poor sales”.

Hopefully, this means Hasbro will get their act together and work on better quality product and pricing.

This order means that Toys R Us can’t mark the product down… they have to return the product as soon as possible. This is a major line for Hasbro to cross. Toys R Us is not responsible for the cost of the product.

If you are in need of completing the Annihilus wave, you had better do it soon. You may not have the chance in the near the future if you wait too long.

Its interesting to note that while some of these figures have really not sold well at all (Emma Frost, Banshee I’m looking at you!), others have been scooped up as soon as they hit shelves including Ultimate Iron Man, Planet Hulk, and Hercules.

Wow. The emmas and banshees and x3 beasts are serious shelf warmers. As far as wave two the shelfwarmers are the X3 figures of jean and juggs, as well as ultimate wolvie. So as it stands, half the waves are home runs and the other half are strike outs. It will be interesting to see what happens when marvel toys releases their Indie Heroes line. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call that fans do want the paint apps and more articulation despite the contrary views hasbro has towards such.

Wait, you can recall a line for poor sales? That’s ridiculous. Not that I’m complaining; I’m tired of seeing those same three toys every time I go to the store. I would be very interested to see the numbers for the toys and see how they stack up against what Toy Biz was doing by the Modok wave.

YES!!!!!!!! Hopefully, those idiots at Hasbro will wake up. Did you see their responses for the Q & A on Marvel Legends? They didn’t even answer the questions about the paint applications very well….all they said was “we’re reviewing the figures on a case by case basis”…translation “we know, we suck at detal!”
