This week’s Lost Classics and $20 GOTW are dedicated to the casual gamer. You know, your mom, dad, grandparents, or girlfriend. They may like video games, but may not be into them as much as you are, so here is a little something for them. These games may not reinvent the wheel, but they’re guaranteed to be fun for the whole family. So with no further ado, lets get it started with this little RPG/Board Game Hybrid, in which you must defeat the evil dragons and their minions by answering their quizzes. Get it? Quiz and Dragons!
Those of you who read this column regularly already know about this, as it was featured on Capcom Classics Collection Vol 2. You play as one of four heroes (or 2 in 2 player), each of which with their own special power. Seeing as how this is a fantasy game, the characters are your usual fantasy archetypes which are known by their class instead of an actual name. The fighter has more vitality than the rest of the cast, the amazon can sometimes eliminate one of the wrong answers, the wizard can sometimes choose the category of questions, and the ninja sometimes does double damage when getting a question right. Along the way you’ll grab potions, and other special items to help you out. There isn’t a whole lot to it, but it’s a pretty fun game in it’s own right. The game is featured in Capcom Classics Reloaded (PSP) and Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 (PS2 and Xbox). Moreover, CCC vol. 2 features a special version of the game that asks questions about Capcom games, so check it out and see how little you know about your favorite gaming company.
It should be noted that the questions in Quiz and Dragons only deal with culture and history up until 1992, so players have to think of what the answer would have been in 1992.
