Transformers 2007 Movie Cars, Cast, and the “R”

TFW2005 has a a few pictures from a photo op at Edwards Air Force Base here, where you can see all the Autobots in addition to the Decepticon Barricade and the F22 Raptor, which is the form of Starscream. Wow. Starscream is BIG. Check ’em out. ComingSoon has some shots of more Autobots from ShoWest 2007.

MTV has short interview with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, with some spoilers.

And because you can’t bring up Transformers without talking about the voice casting, NO they still have not made a decision about Megatron and Frank Welker, though he and Peter Cullen were spotted together on Shia Lebeouf’s Myspace. Rumours have been flying of Will Smith in negotiations as Jazz, which sounds pretty good if you ask me.

Finally, Shia mentioned to IESB that Transformers got an “R” rating on its first run through the MPAA. Apparently keeping blood out of the movie didn’t work, as the intense ‘bot on ‘con violence was still enough. Spielberg went to bat for the movie and got it knocked down to a PG-13. A new trailer with more awesome violence is due next month.

If this film were being handled by competent people, then we’d see big blocky Transformers(NOT THE CARTOON MODELS! HIGHLY-DETAILED ROBOTS! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEADS GODDAMMIT!), not these ugly million-part shredformers. Sadly, Bay is a horrible filmmaker, ILM still loyal to Star Wars to put any effort into this(WETA would have bad no problem doing Transformers), and Brian Goldner a massive dumbass. Don Murphy is still riding the high of his white power movie from long ago to realize he’s completely useless. In short, Hasbro sold the rights to the first person to walk along, and that person has no interest in the brand.

If Bay wanted to dodge subspace(I guess he’s too stupid to understand advance scientific ideas) this shoulda been an Armada movie. as it is, it’s Bay’s own “giant ****ing robots” movie with what he thinks alien robots look like. This “they must looklike authentic cars down to the tiniest part” is wankoff garbage, and I’m sick of 30-foot robots being AFRAID of humans because the writers can’t handle more than 5 bots per side. 30-foot robots with guns wouldn’t let humans push them around, nor would they hide.

Dear christ, never let Bay direct a movie based on HP Lovecraft stories, or Cthulhu will be a businessman with thugs who car chase the heroes(and no, that would not be cool) and Innsmouth a drug-smuggling city that uses the fishing industry as a front.

I hope the movie bombs and Tomy strips Hasbro of the license(of which Hasbro does not own Transformers… that “manufactured under license from TOMY” bit means JUST THAT!). I fear all series will have this ugly million part shredformer look if the movie is a success. It’s ugly and nonsensical for robots to change shape that way(not that it will drive the fanbase away. “TRUE FANS” suck Hasbro rod loyally).

I happen to agree with Deadside on this one. This movie scares me frankly.
It seems Bay will do this one even worse than Pearl Harbor.

Another Cliche Storyline behind a money making, attention getting name.

But I’m not so sure about the Hasbro thing. Hasbro has had the American versions since the eighties. but what people fail to realize is that the owners then cared a lot more than the owners now.

this is proven to anyone who watches Armada, Energon, or Cybertron. Hasbro now has become another shameless corporation. Something we will never truly understand. To us, the movie should follow far more in the footsteps of Generation 1. or even two & three, for that matter. But instead, it seems Bay will take our perfectly preserved Memories of the Transformers that were, and shit all over them.

I don’t know whether you realize this, but Hasbro has always been a shameless corporation and Michael Bay has always been a money-maker.

Go back to your perfect memories. I’m a little bit more realistic in my outlook on this, and I don’t have time for people who seem to think this new movie with new characters and new story and new models can somehow disrupt what I did as a kid 22 fucking years ago. Its not the same. Its not SUPPOSED to be the same.

you want blocky transformers? like ones that cant walk or have any movement at all because theyve got giant lego blocks for arms and they mass shift like a cheap cartoon when they transform? gotta love them fanboys they dont stop making me laugh, and hey i grew up watching transformers too. and you dont like michael bay? well i didnt like pearl harbor either, but transformers aint pearl harbor, its a movie about giant robots fighting each other, and that is bays specialty. even if the movie has a bad or no plot, its not meant to be an academy award winner, as long as it has an introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and conclusion, and lots of transforming robots, then itll be what it was intended to be: a live action transformers movie.
