Sony Keynote at TGS 2006

20 GB version price dropped about 20% (Japan only for now)
HDMI support added to 20 GB model

The sad thing is that this means nothing for North America, which is getting more units than Japan. I’ve seen a lot of people saying “wow, good move Sony!” but they’re not getting the picture–it’s a dumb move. They should be doing that HERE so the lower priced console is actually a justifiable buy. There’s no reason to have a lower price point in Japan, with only 100,000 units to go around the country, they’re bound to sell out no matter what there, given the limited number.
