Bond girl Daniel Craig turns down God-like role in Branagh-directed film. http://www.wizarduniverse.com/102108craigthor.html

I like Daniel Craig a lot, but I agree that doing Bond AND Thor is too much. Thats like Hugh Jackman becoming Superman.
Brad Pitt is still my pick.

Brad Pitt and Sean Bean are the two that always come to my mind. But these days I'm less concerned with who they get to play the part and more concerned with the writer(s) and director. You can make an actor look the part, you can't make a bad writer churn out quality.

I agree completely. Much like the books themselves, I can still read a book with less than stellar art as long as the writings good, but I'll drop a gorgeuous book if the story is crap.
Sean Bean is good too. I think this role might be better for a lesser known actor, but casting an unknown who can handle a huge role is easier said than done. Christopher Reeve was a FLUKE.

At first I hated the idea of getting a wrestler or male model that looks the part but can't act it, but the more I think about this film the more I think it will just suck so I wouldn't want anyone good tied up with the movie, so a wrestler or model seems just fine.

That paragraph describing him as speaking in old english, that kind of bullshit better not be in the flick. I love simsons run on thor and it's pretty damn definitive but that shit has got to go. I hope JMS has some part in the screenplay or somehow be a creative consultant because he's dead on that that kind of shit makes no sense. I can absolutely get behind this guy being Thor, his one scene in trek was pretty badass. Not much screen time but he nailed it.

No disrespect towards Chris Hemsworth, but didn't Marvel want A-list celebrities for their movies? I'm glad they've reconsidered this decision. However, my first choice would have been Karl Urban.

they can still fill other roles with A-listers, which would be fine. I think a name actor as a villain would be fine.

whats marvels track list with known actors? ben affleck, thats one for the loss column. Jen Garner sort of a no decision but i'll put it in the loss column, guilty by association with affleck. Nick Cage is a perpetual loss, especially with getting a sequel. Thats an epic failure. Downey jr is all win, complete game shutout. Jessica alba was pretty meh, but that was more the entire movie. Still counts. Casting good actors is an important part, but just a part. But more often than not marvels 1 - 5 when it comes to big name actors. Nick Cage counts twice. Good script and competent actors can do wonders. A hands off approach by the studio couldn't hurt either, that's right fox and sony i'm looking at you.

That guy's not pretty enough to be Thor.
And yes, I will be making the same statement when they cast Cappy.

I'm hoping it'll be more Shakespearean inspired English than a generic Ye Olde Englishe caricature that Thor has devolved into before. ... It'll be very interesting to see who gets to play Loki, I can imagine that would be quite fun.
