I really resisted the idea of doing a Halo night, but since theres 2 new maps and almost everyone here has it, we're going for it anyway.

Its a two night stand, saturday and sunday nights.  April 28th and 29th starting at 8PM eastern and going late.

Requirements:
Xbox or Xbox 360 and a copy of Halo 2
Xbox Live gold account with online play
All maps installed.

Desolation and Tombstone will be available on April 17th for $4, so you'll have a good ten days to buy them, install them, and play around with them.  We won't have to play only those 2 maps all night, and if for some reason you can't get them, i'm sure we'll play plenty of Lockout and other old favorites.

send a friend request to ME "FakeTrout" before then with a message saying you want in on game night.  I'll probably be inviting everyone on my friends list that can fit in the room anyway.  in the event there is more than 16 players or 16 seems too much for a single game because of connection problems, we'll split the rooms and try to shift people out here and there so that everyone can play with everyone.

game types are WIDE OPEN.  Standard team slayer, CTF, and King  are fun, but if you have any specific gametypes or weapons sets you want to play, set them up now and save them, we'll toss party control around so we can try out other stuff.

This is the first and last official Halo 2 Powet Game Night.  I'm sure we'll have plenty of action on Halo 3, but the next Game Night will probably go back in the hands of the DS, and we'll do Gears of War night when new maps hit there too.

He's just trying to get this in before diamond/pearl take over the majority of our lives, for quite a few of us, for the near future. And the ensuing rash of pokébattles that will leave this board a scarred battlefield of glory and inhuman injustice.

Well, if you don't already own Halo 2, you have plenty of time to get an Xbox and a copy.  Wink

the crossover audience for xbox shooters and DS role players is slim, but I can't run a pokemon night

I got some new update for Halo, and nothing happened to my stats.  Did that just not happen yet, or was your info not correct?

Well this certainly explains why everyone was playing Halo 2 tonight.

I've played Halo once in my life.  I may see if I can borrow this game from a friend for gaming weekend.

auto-update was installing new banhammer stuff, no gameplay enhancements that I know of.  the clean sweep on stats will happen after the maps launch and they do the matchmaking playlist update, at which time all current playlists will be replaced with new ones to reflect the added maps and the dwindling online population to make it easier to find players.

I don't know how long this will work, but as of this posting it does;

Lol, I just got banned from Bungie.net for posting this:
People, until somebody fixes it, the maps are avaiable FREE to 360 users. Here's what you do
1. Create a silver account (don't accept the 30 day trial). If you already have a silver account, skip this step
2. Start Halo 2
3. Login to Xbox Live with your GOLD membership
4. Go to the content downloader
5. When the content downloader prompts you to login, choose your SILVER account
6. Click purchase on the blasticular pack.
7. You will receive a failed message
8. Click purchase on the blasticular map pack again
9. Your download will begin, and you get the maps free of charge Smiley

ENJOY THIS!!! Smiley You may use the maps on any account on your Xbox, not just the silver you made Smiley
I wasn't going to post this, but since Bungie still hasn't dealt with it, I'm guessing they don't really care. For more information, and to hear from people who have successfully done it, check over here:

It worked for me.  the purchase failed the first 3 times I tried, then it downloaded.

I'm thinking Microsoft will either fix this, come after people who do it, or both.  If they ask me, I'll give them my 4 bucks, but I had to try this for myself..
