1up.com‘s Luke Smith and Kathleen Sanders spoke at length with Sony’s David Jaffe on his new game Calling All Cars in this week’s 1up Show. After all the talk of the downloadable PS3 game, the focus shifted toward what Sony is doing wrong, what Nintendo is doing wrong, and what Microsoft is doing wrong. 1up is making a reputation for throwing out tough questions, but I think Jaffe deserves some credit for answering them and being so candid. Few within the industry openly praise the competition or slam their own employer like he does, but the root of it seems to be he is a regular gamer like us, he just happens to have access to the process. The 20 minute interview is posted above.

Numerous sources confirm that the unattractive and untalented Gwyneth Paltrow will star as Iron Man’s love interest Virginia “Pepper” Potts opposite on again off again drug addict Robert Downey Jr. Some people consider this stain on the film industry to be talented since winning an Academy Award for her performance in the unforgiveably bad Shakespeare In Love. This does not change the simple fact that with nearly 40 sub par film performances under her belt she has only managed to make a single good movie.

Who the hell calls their kid Apple? Seriously?

Green Arrow from Smallville has his own show! Sort of. But it’s very strangely animated. And episodes are only about 2 to 4 minutes long. AND they’re only available on “Sprint TV’s mobile video service.” But don’t worry! Once all of the 6 episodes have ‘aired,’ they’ll be available on the CW’s website, starting February 22nd. You can even watch the official trailer for the show HERE, and catch a glimpse of the painfully odd animation in action.

If the video’s not at that link anymore by the time you read this, go to the Smallville main site, and look under the main picture. Of the four smaller boxes lined up underneath, it should be the one on the right, titled “Smallville Legends.”

As for me, while I have no intention of paying anyone, ever, to see this; that trailer remains a sight to behold. As annoying as the kid sounds in it (Waaa! I don’t want a stupid bow and arrow! Waaaaa!), the visuals alone strike me as too strangely disjointed for anyone to punish their senses with for 2 to 4 minutes. So obviously, if I still remember this a month from now, like a good rubbernecker, I’ll totally be checking it out online when I get the chance.

The Onimusha series was rumored to have started off as an N64 Resident Evil game with samurai instead of Zombies. Obviously it managed to make a life of its own on the PS2 (along with the enhanced Xbox version of the original). Around the time of this release, there were 2 prior games, a Game Boy Advance strategy spin off, and a Smash Brothers-esque PS2 spin-off. A sequel was released last year which is also garnering critical acclaim.

With the turn of the new year having come and gone, Midway games has alot to celebrate. Its newest title of one of the greatest fighting franchise in gaming history, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has achieved many award-winning goals like it’s predecessors before it. In reaching the mark 1 million copies sold just last week, and a port to the Wii system by April of this year to join its releases on the PS2 and Xbox systems, the Mortal Kombat name has certainly a lot to boast about.
