Justice League Live Action TV series pilot

man, this looks crappy.DC comics have traditionally done well when animated for the small screen. The universe established with Batman the Animated series which concluded in Justice League Unlimted this year is probably only surpassed by Star Trek for its amazing ability to take multiple series and tie them all together.

Live action has fared less well. George Reeves had a good run as Superman, and Adam West and Burt Ward certainly made TV history as Batman & Robin (even if the show was more parody than adaptation). But The Flash got one season out of CBS, Birds Of Prey was panned and canned, and Smallville seems to be losing steam in its 6th year.

Apparently someone more than a few years ago thought the Justice League would make a good show. The Movie Blog is hosting the pilot for this show, which you can download right now. You could download it, but I’d advise you not to. Its so bad. Guy Gardner and Barry Allen are roommates. Atom’s costume makes me laugh just looking at it. Martian Manhunter is the only one who doesn’t come off as completely terrible. The “big 3” are nowhere to be found. These are all things that were possible to fix with casting, writing or simple asthetic choices.

The thing they couldn’t fix is the visual effects, which are pretty good for 80s TV, but do a disservice to the characters because they’re so distractingly fake. Green Lantern’s ring powers form goofy umbrellas or helicopter blades. Atom fights a kitten in local news weather quality green-screen.

Anyway, yeah its bad. Horrible actually. I think I’m having an allergic reaction thinking about it.

The NEW New Fantastic Four?

New Fantastic Four?Ah, how I long for the good old days, when talking about the “New Fantastic Four” meant talking about Spidey, Grey Hulk, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider. But Marvel just sent this image out, suggesting that this may be our NEW New Fantastic Four in the near future . Of course, this would hardly be the first time the lineup got a shakedown – most notably when She-Hulk filled in for Ben Grimm, less notably when Scott Lang filled in for Reed Richards. Of course, there are many others that haved filled in at various points over the years, but this Michael Turner image is a rare sight, as we don’t usually see more than one member missing – Here we have Storm and Black Panther replacing both Sue and Reed Richards… despite the rift between the Richards duo being a significant part of Civil War.

So when can we expect some answers, you ask? Well, the solicits for Civil War-crossover-issues 542 and 543 both tease that Civil War may leave the FF with a new lineup, and 544’s solicits (and cover image) are ‘classified’. Of course, this is also when veteran writer Dwayne McDuffie (who’s currently showing off his writing chops in Beyond!) and artist Paul Pelletier (who can occasionally be seen in Exiles) take over the book too, so if there’s going to be a shakeup, odds are you should keep your eyes out for when the book drops in March!

Wii Strap Recall

Wii Strap Form

Wii Remote Wrist Strap Replacement Request Form

Note: you will need to submit your Wii’s serial number in order to be eligible.

An admission of guilt? A small gesture to appease the few who think it’d be fun to let go of the controller and “see what happens”? I don’t know about you, but I’ve never had a problem with a flying Wiimote. Heck, most of the time I don’t even use the strap. But seeing some of my friends play and after totally pwning a drinking glass during Wii bowling, maybe there’s more to this than I’m admitting. In other words, I already ordered a couple.

Check out a comparison of the new straps to the older ones after the break:

Transformers Classics Hot Rod in real life

This may not be newsworthy, but I thought it was still definitely worth sharing. The other night, powet.tv cohort, Zac Shipley, instant messaged me the following link:

Classics Hot Rod in real life.

Basically, it has several pictures of a car from the late 70’s. The red version is a dead ringer for the new classics hot rod figure. The only thing missing is the flames on the hood, the yellow spoiler and engine block popping out of the middle of the hood. Have a look for yourself!
